About Breast Exam
Regular breast exams are a vital part of women's health care. At Garden OB/GYN, our providers perform clinical breast examinations as part of your annual visit and whenever concerns arise. Combined with self-exams and mammography referrals, clinical breast exams help detect lumps, changes, or abnormalities early — when treatment is most effective.
What to Expect
Your provider will visually examine and carefully palpate both breasts and the surrounding lymph nodes to check for lumps, thickening, or other changes. The exam takes just a few minutes and is performed during your annual visit. If any abnormalities are found, your provider will recommend further evaluation such as a diagnostic mammogram or ultrasound. We also teach you how to perform monthly breast self-exams at home.
Who Is This For?
All women should have clinical breast exams as part of their annual gynecological care. Women with a family history of breast cancer or other risk factors may benefit from earlier and more frequent screening.
