What to Expect

First visits typically involve a conversation — not a pelvic exam — where the provider gets to know your teen and addresses any health questions or concerns. Topics may include menstrual health, hygiene, vaccination (HPV), nutrition, and healthy development. Pelvic exams are only performed when medically necessary. Parents are welcome in the room or can step out depending on the teen's comfort level.

Girls and young women ages 13-21. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends a first gynecological visit between ages 13-15.
